Reztec Rubber  Flooring

3 Part Product Specification

 

Part 1 – General

 

1.01 Definitions

  1. This specification refers to Reztec® rubber flooring.
  2. Installer is defined as a competent, experienced person assigned to install the flooring material.

 

1.02 Installer Experience Level

  1. Installer must be experienced and competent in the installation of resilient rubber flooring materials.  Installer must install flooring per instructions provided by Expanko, Inc.

 

1.03 Description of Work

  1. Prepare sub-floor per manufacturers instructions in areas specified to receive Reztec flooring.
  2. Install flooring material using manufactures recommended installation products in accordance with manufacturers instructions.

 

1.04 Delivery, Storage and Handling

  1. All flooring materials are to be delivered to the job site 72 hours prior to installation and are to be stored where they are to be installed.  Roll goods are to be stored on end. Roll goods must be unrolled 24 hours prior to installation. A temperature level of 65° - 75° F and relative humidity level of 45° - 65° must be maintained 72 hours prior to, during and 72 hours after installation.

 

Part 2 – Products

 

2.01 General

  1. Product recommendations and installation and maintenance instructions are based upon Reztec rubber flooring.

 

2.02  Approved Manufacturers

2.03  Submittals

  1. Submit product data, samples and installation and maintenance recommendations for each item specified.
  2. Submit two (2) samples to illustrate product color, pattern and density.
  3. Samples shall be used as a standard for material to be installed.

 

2.04 Warranties

  1. Manufacturer shall provide a five (5) year warranty against manufacturing defects.

 

2.05 Materials

  1. Reztec rubber flooring shall meet the following specifications.
    1. Flooring shall be made of minimum 5% SBR and maximum 95% EPDM rubber with a non-yellowing urethane binder. Material shall be colored throughout the tile with fade resistant pigments. Material shall be rated for flammability as class I (ASTM E648) if 70% or greater EPDM material is specified. Material shall be rated for flammability as class II for materials specified with less than 70% EPDM.
      1. Colors: Specify color as listed on manufacturers sample.
    2. Physical Properties:
      1. Dimensions: Specify material dimension and thickness in millimeters or inches.
        1. Standard Dimensions:
          1. Rolls: 48” wide
          2. Tile: 24” X 24”,
          3. Exloc interlocking tile:34.5” X 34.5”
        2. Standard Thickness:
          1. Rolls: 4.0mm, 6.0mm, 8.0mm, 9.5mm
          2. Tile: 4.0mm, 6.0mm, 8.0mm, 9.5mm
          3. Exloc interlocking tile: 8.0mm, 9.5mm
          4. Density: Material density shall exceed 78 lbs/ft3

 

Part 3 - Execution

 

3.01 Sub-floor preparation

  1. Prepare sub-floor according to manufacturers recommendations.
  2. Conduct calcium chloride moisture tests according to manufacturers recommendations.
  3. Sub-floor moisture emissions level shall be less than 3 lbs./1000ft/24 hrs for glue down applications.
  4. Provide detailed sub-floor preparation guidelines to those responsible for sub-floor preparation.

 

3.02  Application 

  1. Provide detailed manufacturers installation instructions to floor installer.
  2. Maintain sub-floor temperature for 72 hours prior, during and 72 hours after installation between 65°F and 75°F.
  3. Conditions in area of installation must be maintained for 72 hours prior, during and 72 hours after installation between 65°F and 75°F with relative humidity between 45% and 65%.
  4. Install Reztec flooring material according to manufacturers instructions.
  5. Install roll goods and tiles in an ashlar or staggered joint pattern. Exloc interlocking tile shall be installed with all joints aligned.
  6. Install roll goods and tiles using only those adhesives, sealers and floor preparation materials recommended by the manufacturer.
  7. Install Exloc interlocking tiles without adhesive, using sealers and floor preparation materials recommended by the manufacturer.
  8. Roll goods and tile shall be rolled with a 3 section, 100lb. roller 3 times after installation.

 

3.03  Curing, Cleaning and Protection

  1. After installation, the floor will require a minimum of 24 hours to set. Do not finish or clean floor during this period. After 24 hours, the floor shall be maintained according to manufactures post installation maintenance instructions. Where required, floor is to be sealed with the manufactures recommended floor sealer.
  2. Only light foot traffic is permitted on floor for 24 hours after installation. Do not use rolling carts, ladders or any other object on the floor that can cause damage.
  3. Protect the floor against scratching and gouging with material (reinforced paper, Masonite etc.) suited to the type of traffic it will be submitted to during the completion of construction.
  4. After completion of construction, the floor shall be cleaned according to manufacturers post installation maintenance instructions.
  5. Provide manufacturers detailed post installation maintenance instructions to those responsible for post installation maintenance.
